Integrated Cockpit Domain Control Unit

As part of its aim to simplify electronics architecture, Marelli has introduced its new Integrated Cockpit Domain Control Unit (DCU) which consolidates traditionally separate ECUs into a single controller. This is a significant development in the evolution of the in-cabin technology experience.

The Cockpit Domain Control Unit (DCU) allows different domains, traditionally powered by specific ECUs, to be merged into a single system on a chip (SoC), guaranteeing uniform reliability and quality of service.
It also reduces the complexity of ECUs communication and synchronization.

The system modularity and scalability enables to integrate additional layers of functions to meet OEM’ requests: from passenger entertainment to HMI control panel and Head Up Display, and finally to camera-based applications and V2X applications.

Higher and scalable hardware performance 

Marelli portfolio can provide a cost-optimised HW solution, that best fits customer requirements via a scalable approach. Different HW levels and a modular SW architecture enable the matching of customer requirements in terms of processing capabilities, features and applications.

Hypervisor technologies

Hypervisor hosts multiple operating systems. and is key element in the integration of the different domains within the Domain Control Unit.  It makes it possible to separate safety-critical features from infotainment and entertainment functions.

Different levels of vertical integration that range from HW, SW firmware and hypervisor to a completely integrated SW stack.
